Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
